Abstract

The study analyzed ethics in the management practices of the Human Resources Department in small and medium-sized companies in Sertanópolis and Itambarac. The research, which was descriptive and quantitative, applied questionnaires to 21 professionals in the area. It was found that 95.2% consider ethics essential, although some had not taken the course during their undergraduate studies and do not receive ongoing training. The main risks of unethical conduct indicated were labor lawsuits and loss of credibility. Among the challenges, the lack of structure and pressure for results stand out, which can encourage irregularities. Despite this, the pursuit of ethical conduct in accordance with legislation prevails. It is concluded that, although ethics are valued, there are gaps that can be overcome with more effective internal policies, periodic training, and greater organizational transparency.
